On the afternoon of January 26, 2026, the China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF) and the Embassy of Finland in China jointly hosted the China–Finland Advanced Manufacturing Cooperation Dialogue in Beijing. As an important supporting event for the business delegation accompanying Petteri Orpo, Prime Minister of Finland, on his visit to China, the meeting aimed to promote precise matchmaking between Chinese and Finnish enterprises, focusing on practical cooperation and market expansion, and achieved positive outcomes.

Jarno Syrjälä, Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, who accompanied the Finnish Prime Minister’s visit to China, and Xu Niansha, President of CMIF, attended the meeting and delivered remarks. Also present were Song Xiaogang, Secretary General of CMIF; She Weizhen, Chief Economist and Deputy Secretary General of CMIF; Representatives from 14 Finnish institutions and companies including the Confederation of Finnish Industries, Business Finland, KONE Corporation, Valmet Automotive, and Finnish Minerals Group; as well as representatives from 13 Chinese industry associations and enterprises including the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA), China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China Heavy Machinery Industry Association, Sinomach, FAW Group, BAIC Group, Chery Automobile, BYD, and China Water Environment Group. Participants engaged in in-depth exchanges and business matchmaking.

The meeting was chaired by Marko Tiesmäki, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Finland in China.
Jarno Syrjälä noted that China–Finland cooperation is built on open opportunities and bilateral commitments. Finland possesses world-class technologies, innovation capabilities and highly skilled talent in areas such as advanced manufacturing, automation and digitalization, along with a favorable and forward-looking business environment. He highlighted that the China Machinery Industry Federation plays a central role in building a cooperative ecosystem between the two sides and expressed hope that the meeting would help generate concrete cooperation projects and long-term business relationships, while encouraging both sides to deepen mutual trust through such platforms.

Xu Niansha stated that Finland has advantages in innovation, integrity and geographic location. As the only national comprehensive industry association representing China’s machinery sector, the China Machinery Industry Federation can provide Finnish enterprises with full industrial chain services ranging from raw materials to end manufacturing. Despite challenges, China’s machinery industry has achieved high-quality growth during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, demonstrating strong market resilience and potential. He called on both sides to maintain patience in cooperation in innovation and global market expansion, noting that the Chinese government and the federation will fully support such cooperation and inviting enterprises from both sides to conduct field visits and share development opportunities.

During the event, She Weizhen, Chief Economist and Deputy Secretary General of CMIF delivered a presentation on the development of China’s machinery industry during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period and prospects for the “15th Five-Year Plan.” Su Zimeng, President of CCMA, presented a report on the development status and future trends of China’s construction machinery industry. Jiang Jianna, Director of the Industry Research Department at the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM); Liang Xiaofeng, President of Metso China; and Gao Wei, General Manager of FAW Beijing Branch, each delivered remarks on the current status of their respective industries and enterprises, as well as prospects for cooperation.

The meeting served not only as a high-level dialogue but also as a high-quality “supply and demand matchmaking platform.” Representatives from China and Finland conducted substantive discussions on promoting practical cooperation, expanding market opportunities and aligning business needs. Through this exchange, enterprises from both sides achieved efficient supply–demand matching, fostering a positive atmosphere for pragmatic cooperation and laying a solid foundation for strengthening mutual trust and advancing concrete projects in the future.
